Before re-entering academia, Ron had a 20-year career in corporate e-learning, adult and online collaborative learning. Ron brings expertise in ICT and online interaction design to the Citizens' Parliament project. After turning his attention to deliberative democracy, his masters degree dissertation reported on a case study of a citizens jury convened by a shire council, during which participants responded better to facilitative rather than authoritative expert panelists.

For work on the Citizens Parliament project, Ron has been awarded a three-year APAI scholarship, funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC). His narrative inquiry will reveal the range of meanings that participants make of deliberation, and how they learn by experience about a deliberative process. The findings will inform the design and facilitation of public engagement processes in the future.

Note: Ron is also the webmaster for this site.
